By the time of establishment in 1964, Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital Sialkot was a 125 bedded District Headquarter Hospital. In 1975, this bed strength was enhanced to 293 beds and in 1999 it was further increased to 373 beds. In 2012, by the time of establishment of Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot, AIMH was a 400 bedded hospital. Year 2012 was a turning point in the history of AIMH, when its affiliation with KMSMC created great disparity in resources in terms of space, HR, equipment and teaching facilities. During the last quarter of 2023, a great initiative of revamping of the hospital was taken by the Government of Punjab. Under the umbrella of this landmark initiative, 100,000 sq.ft area out of total of 150,000 sq.ft was revamped and beautified leading to provision of better working environment for the staff, clean and aesthetic facilities for the patients and attendants. By the completion of revamping, the bed strength of the hospital was further enhanced to 565 beds in January 2024
